| Feb 14th | Tattie Jam |
Young performers with pazazz! Spicy instrumentals, song content not less than 50%, a recipe for modern tastes using original and traditional Scottish ingredients. Ruaridh's distinctive, versatile guitar picking and clear voice compliment Seylan's expressive vocals and fluid cello in exciting arrangements of humorous and pithy new songs, funky dance tunes, keen slow airs and haunting old ballads. Seylan's 5-string electric bass gives their music a wonderful rich sound yet has the range to play surprising jigs and reels. Their music expresses the heart and soul of traditional and folk music in exciting and unusual ways. A welcome return! |

| March 6th | Vin Garbutt |
Vin Garbutt is reputed to have said that he is not interested in becoming a big star in the accepted sense. Nevertheless in the area of music where he performs, there is no bigger star. He prefers to be a big fish in a small pond. This attitude means that his need for privacy and a balanced home life are safeguarded and satisfied. What the world realised long before Vin did, was that the small pond had grown over the years into a considerable lake. All this has happened without the hype from
big Record Companies, and without the usual publicity from the mass
media. He has performed all over the globe, and in parts of countries
that the biggest stars will never see. This phenomenon has occurred
solely by word of mouth, spread by people who have come across him,
and felt the need to share this unique experience with their fellow
countrymen. Admission:£11.00 & £9.00 in advance £12.00 & £10.00 on door, con £1.00 discount. Available from the Club or ring 01234 376278 to book in advance. |

Two young talented musicians on tour.

met while studying Folk and Traditional music at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Their music draws on influences from the Highlands of Scotland to the
Borders and beyond, incorporating both Gaelic and English songs with traditional
and contemporary melodies. Both individually and as a duo they have performed
at a wealth of festivals including Celtic Connections, Tonder and Sidmouth
folk festival. In 2005 Rachel was a finalist for the BBC Radio Scotland
Young Traditional Musician of the Year and they are both members of the

Derek sings some cracking chorus songs either acapella or with guitar or bowed psaltery. He did a couple of evenings specialising on birds in folk song for us in conjunction with Little Paxton Nature reserve some years ago, but this is a full Derek evening with no particular theme although birds may well get a mention! |

Cloudstreet |
The lovely Nicole and John of Aussie duo
CLOUDSTREET will be back in the UK on tour in the spring of 2012 after a gap of nearly 2 years. Cloudstreet - hot harmonies & beautiful ballads. John and Nicole's performances are packed with vitality, humour and excitement, as they breathe new life into some of the great songs of the Australian, English and Celtic traditions and carry the tradition forward with original songs and tunes. Driving guitar and Irish flute support their enthralling vocals. Their trademark dazzling harmonies and their impassioned presentation are leavened with humour and great tales from their travels. Cloudstreet makes their audience feel that they are the privileged viewers of something very special. (A "cloudstreet" is a row of thermals marked by cumullus clouds. When gliders fly from thermal to thermal by following the clouds, they "fly the cloudstreet", staying aloft for miles.) Admission: £9.00 & £8.00 concessions £1 discount |

Winter Wilson |
Lincolnshire based musicians Dave Wilson
and Kip Winter joined forces in 1995 and have steadily built a reputation
across the UK for engaging performances, with mostly original songs along
with the odd well chosen cover. Dave’s songs have a broad appeal
whilst often relating to the sights and sounds of everyday local life
and are now heard in many folk clubs throughout the country. Kip’s voice is one of the best in the business, coupling power and emotion. She’s sung everything from Jazz to Opera, but is at her best when singing folk and blues. Powerful lyrics combine with superb harmonies to produce songs to remember. Great songs, great performance, and an off beat sense of humour give Winter Wilson a style that’s very much their own. |
